Convention Registration Open

The Geo­rgia AAUW con­ven­tion reg­is­tra­tion is now open. The meet­ing starts Fri­day, April 1 with reg­is­tra­tion from 4 — 6:45 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m. on April 2. The ban­quet will be Fri­day night at 7:00 p.m. fol­lowed by the hos­pi­tal­ity suite hosted by the Hous­ton Peach Branch members.

Send Reg­is­tra­tion with a check make payable to AAUW of Geor­gia in the amount of $52.00 (for reg­is­tra­tion and both meals), or Reg­is­tra­tion and sep­a­rate meal cost, if nec­es­sary, to: Marlene Humphry, Pres­i­dent, Houston-Peach Branch, 141 Majes­tic Oak Cir­cle, Byron GA 31008. The form includes the lunch selec­tion for Saturday.

The Geor­gia AAUW Con­ven­tion is sched­uled for the week­end of April 1st, in Warner Robins, at the Fair­field Inn. The Hous­ton Peach Branch , has found an excep­tional facil­ity for our con­ven­tion. Mem­bers will have a chance to meet and inter­act with Patri­cia Ho,  AAUW National Board of Direc­tors,  who will attend the state convention.

Reg­is­tra­tion mate­ri­als will be avail­able later in the month. Right now the pro­gram starts Fri­day, April 1 with a ban­quet and hos­pi­tal­ity event. Sat­ur­day, April 2nd will be the busi­ness meet­ing and workshops.

The Fair­field Inn is offer­ing AAUW a spe­cial room rate until March 1, 2011. If you want a spe­cial rate reser­va­tion for Fri­day night, you must con­tact the Fair­field Inn before March 1. The only rooms avail­able are suites for $94.00 plus tax. The suites have a king bed or two queens, a sofa bed and a roll­away is per­mit­ted. The nor­mal rate is $139.00 plus tax.

Garfein Running for Second Term

Car­olyn Garfein, Pres­i­dent of AAUW, is a can­di­date for a sec­ond term as Pres­i­dent of AAUW. Garfien lives in Geor­gia and has been a mem­ber of the Cobb County Branch of AAUW. AAUW is accept­ing appli­ca­tions until March 1, 2011, for the three directors-at-large to be appointed by the newly elected AAUW Board of Direc­tors in June 2011. At that meet­ing, the board will also appoint the finance vice pres­i­dent and sec­re­tary from among the elected and appointed board members.
